Impact of digital marketing on growth of small businesses in India: A study with special reference to Solapur District

Abstract
Digital marketing has
become a crucial driver of transformation in contemporary business
environments, especially for small enterprises aiming to enhance their market
presence and competitiveness. In India, the widespread availability of internet
connectivity and smartphones has facilitated the adoption of digital platforms
by small businesses for promotion and customer engagement. This study explores
the influence of digital marketing on the growth of small businesses in India,
with particular reference to Solapur district. The research is based on both
primary and secondary data sources and evaluates the role of digital tools such
as social media platforms, search engines, and mobile-based applications in
shaping sales performance, customer acquisition, and overall business
development. The findings reveal that digital marketing contributes positively
to business expansion by improving visibility, strengthening customer
relationships, and offering cost-effective promotional strategies. However,
issues such as limited digital skills and financial constraints continue to
pose challenges for small business owners. The study suggests practical
strategies to enhance the effective use of digital marketing among small
enterprises.
