Abstract

This report presents a detailed overview of a seven-week internship undertaken at a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) committed to advancing the safety and well-being of women. The primary aim of the internship was to gain practical exposure to grassroots initiatives centered on areas such as legal assistance, gender sensitization, self-defense instruction, menstrual health awareness, and rehabilitation services. Each week involved targeted tasks, including participating in educational workshops, recording empowering personal narratives, contributing to program assessments, and developing communication materials for outreach.

Key insights gained during the internship include the importance of active community involvement, the essential function NGOs serve in bridging the gap between policy and implementation, and the complex obstacles faced in promoting women's safety and empowerment. Activities like fieldwork, case analysis, and evaluating the effectiveness of various programs provided an in-depth understanding of the transformative role NGOs play in driving social progress. The internship concluded with a comprehensive reflective report and presentation, summarizing both academic enrichment and personal development. In addition to detailing the achievements of the internship, the report also examines the approaches used by NGOs to improve the condition of women in India.
