Trend of Spiritual Godman in India: Implications for the modern Indian society

Abstract
When the leading economics of the world like Europe, US, South Korea, Japan are ageing, India can boast of having an increased working population. India will become the 2020 with an average age of 29 as stated by India's High Commissioner to Sri Lanka. This demographic potential can offer huge contribution to the social and economic development of the country. But if millions of people consisting youth adults are seeking relief in the lap of self styled Godman and pursue the illogical path paved by Cults emerging swiftly, the prospective edge could turn into a disaster. The trend of Spiritual Godman who claims themselves as God- incarnate and offers instant gratification is a matter of grave concern as the curiosity and energy of the people must be fed by Scientific and positive thinking rather than ideology of dissemblance. This paper attempt to examine the factors behind the advent of self- styled Godman in India, the place where Gurus of impeccable character had originated; simultaneously the implications of this trend on modern Indian society.
