Abstract
Women’s political participation and representation range dramatically within and between countries. We selectively evaluation the literature on gender in politics, that specialise in ladies’s formal political participation. We speak both traditional causes for girls’s political participation and representation, consisting of the supply of girls and the demand for women, and more recent factors which include the function of global actors and gender quotas. We additionally ask whether or not women are exceptional—does having extra women in workplace make a distinction to public policy? Throughout the assessment we show that a full expertise of girls’s political representation calls for both deep know-how of man or woman cases which includes America and extensive understanding evaluating women’s participation throughout countries. We cease with four endorsed directions for destiny research: (a) globalising principle and research, (b) expanding statistics series, (c) remembering opportunity styles of girls’s business enterprise, and (d) advert- dressing intersectionality.
