Indian Banking sector is passing through a series of innovative changes and Core Banking Solution (CBS) is the word most repeatedly heard among the latest changes. Opening up of Indian Banking sector due to the shift in Government policies and the globalization and the subsequent liberalization process happened world over, are the main reasons for such changes happening in Indian Banking system. In the tough competition to survive among the foreign banks and also many of the new generation private sector banks, the old sector, large networked banks also are seriously considering Core banking solution implementation in India. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is also motivating the banks to become totally computerised and CBS implemented throughout the country. The implementation of CBS and introduction of other allied innovative products have caused for big changes in the business of banks, not only in deposits and advances but also in parameters like non-performing assets (NPA) management, interest income, non-interest income (other income), share values, earnings per share (EPS) etc.
